Experiences:
Since 1985, Hock Chye has been involved in the field of conveyancing, banking and finance and corporate law. Prior to returning to Malaysia, he was working in a leading law firm in Singapore. He has wide experience in:-
- Negotiating and preparing banking and security documentation, including those related to aircraft financing, ship mortgages, project financing, raising capital by the issue of promissory notes and bonds, issue of certificates of deposits by financial institutions, custodian agreements, interest and currency swap agreements and loan syndications.
- Advising financial institutions on the law of consumer credit.
- Negotiating and documenting acquisition and disposal of real property, businesses and shares in corporations.
- Due diligence exercises for initial public offers on companies to be listed on the KLSE and a foreign stock exchange and other due diligence exercises in general.
- Advising on and acting for the company/offerors in the initial public offer of shares on the KLSE.
- Advising joint venture partners and shareholders on the structure of their transactions.
Some of the projects previously handled by Hock Chye include:-
- Project financing for the RM700 million elevated highway project concession in Kuala Lumpur which involved a mixture of securities for both conventional and Islamic financing instruments.
- RM400 million syndicated refinancing arrangements for a local listed company involving the issuance of bonds and other commercial paper.
- Multicurrency club deals involving an Indonesian ceramic manufacturer with Malaysian interests.
- RM100 million Al-Murabahah Commercial Papers/Medium Term Notes to finance the various government contracts awarded to the Issuer.
